Acorn Treehouse, Devon

Named after the acorns that grow on its supporting tree, this is a true tree house built 9 meters up from the ground, around a mature oak tree in the middle of 2.5 acres of historic woods.

‘The Acorn’ provides a unique tree house holiday – especially for anyone looking for a peaceful, romantic break or somewhere unusual to celebrate a special occasion. The supporting English oak tree is found 90 meters into the woods via a magical woodland path, where the treehouse and balcony are accessed via a spiral staircase (limited access width of 47cm) which is lit by fairy lights at night.

From the decked balcony two cabins wrap around the tree trunk to house the well equipped kitchen and bedroom in one and a separate bathroom in the other. There is a cute kitchen, dinky dining table & chairs, sofa and a full double bed, TV / DVD player, books and games – all you need for a cosy couple of days together.

During cooler times the wood burning stove keeps this well insulated tree house den warm and snug. The other section of the tree house has a shower room with enclosed hot shower (limited width access), wash basin (H&C), and camping style flushing loo.

No tree house holiday would be complete without a balcony and this one is surrounded by woodland with evergreens, so no matter what the season you will still be ensconced within a secretive yet light canopy. It’s a great spot for lazy meals or relaxing with a book – literally amongst the branches and birds. And as night time falls, look up to starry skies above and listen out for the owls.
